Salary Ranges

$49,457 - $62,764 - Salary is restricted to above range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.

The Assistant Director assists in developing, implementing, maintaining, and overall administrating federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.  Assists with processes to monitor program compliance with all funding sources by federal, state, and institutional rules and regulations.  Responsible for all PA State Grant and Special Programs.  Reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships.  This position is primarily located at the Main Campus but may require travel to the other LCCC and off-campus sites.  This position requires some evening and weekend hours and during the winter break in December.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for administering and reconciling all PA State Grants and Special Programs, which award over $1.3 million annually.
  • Responsible for training ESP staff on PA State Grant eligibility checks, new regulations, institutional and state policies, and procedures. Responsible for reviewing eligibility checks performed by ESP staff to ensure program compliance.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of regulations for awarding, disbursement, and reconciliation of all PA State Grant and Special Programs to ensure compliance. Responsible for coordinating staff and all materials for all PHEAA Program Review audits.
  • Review of professional judgment cases, including but not limited to Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals for Federal and State aid, Dependency Override requests, Provisional Independent Status, and Special Circumstances.
  • Responsible for recalculating financial aid packages due to no-shows, repeat coursework, over awards, and budget adjustments.
  • Assist with various processes related to Federal aid programs, including—but not limited to—importing/exporting files, entrance and exit interview processes, packaging, reconciliation, and disbursement.
  • Represents the office as needed, both internally and externally, and assists with all College Financial Aid Workshops, FAFSA Completion Events, Financial Aid Information Sessions, Open Houses, and other programs on campus and off campus at area high schools and other community organizations as required. Some travel may be required.
  • Provides counter and telephone support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an operations and procedures manual for this position.
  • Assumes responsibility for management of the Financial Aid Office in the absence of the Executive Director and Associate Directors.
  • Performs specialized projects, duties, and/or functions as assigned by the Executive Director of Financial Aid.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree business management, accounting communications, or other related fields from an accredited institution. No substitution of experience for education is permitted.
  • Foreign degrees – must provide a US equivalency report of your degree credentials with your transcript, if not, your resume will not be accepted.

Certifications

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

Work Experience

  • Two or more years of financial aid experience in a higher education environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with a networked environment such as the Ellucian Banner software, along with experience with reporting tools such as Argos MS Access and MS Office Suite, is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.  The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
