TV/Film Student Cast in Feature Film
Konnor Kristiansen, a second-year TV/Film student at LCCC, is making his acting debut in the feature film, How to Start a Cult in 5-Easy Steps.
The independent film, made by Wes Clark, is set to be released in 2025. The movie follows a man in debt, wanting a better life. Inspired by his town’s priest, he creates his own religion, which quickly spirals out of control. Kristiansen decided to sign up for ‘Backstage,’ an app where actors can apply for a number of productions and roles. As a student with no immediate connections to the industry, it took some time before he got an audition. Although he didn’t get the specific role he read for, he was still given a part in the feature film. This opportunity has opened the door for more projects and has allowed him to gain a greater understanding of what actors are capable of.
Kristiansen got his start acting in school plays and community theater. “Acting is something that has always been my end goal to do as a job,” he says. “I love movies and stage performances, so seeing those at a young age inspired me to take acting lessons with ‘Players of the Stage,’ and to do any stage performance I could .” Kristiansen has gained a deep understanding of everything that goes into film production since starting at LCCC. With his main goal of becoming an actor, he found it important to know all of what goes into a production, not only from the perspective of being in front of the camera, but also behind it.
