Salary Ranges

Instructor Rank - $48,000 to $63,142
Assistant Professor Rank - $49,637 to $67,448
(Must meet academic preparation, and/or equated experience, or doctorate degree to be hired at the Assistant Professor rank)
Salary is restricted to above range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.

Responsible for instruction, guidance and evaluation of students in the Practical Nursing Program.  Participates in ongoing program development.  Works cooperatively with program faculty.  Must be willing to teach at multiple sites (Schnecksville, Donley, and Tamaqua campuses)  and various clinical sites in the greater Lehigh Valley.  Directly responsible to the Director of Nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recommends changes to the instructional programs and curricula as required, and actively participates in curricular development.
  • Keeps and submits appropriate academic records.
  • Maintains instructional effectiveness by ongoing self-evaluation and incorporating current developments in instructional and learning strategies.
  • Teaches courses in accordance with the master course outline and within the schedule of classes.
  • Assists librarians in keeping the College collections and services current.
  • Assists the College in keeping technology, facilities, and equipment current.
  • Plans with the assistance of the Director of Nursing/Dean to insure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to the successful teaching of assigned classes.
  • Maintains regular office hours, as approved by the Director of Nursing, for consultation with students.
  • Serves as faculty advisor to student organizations (voluntary).
  • Serves as a faculty advisor to students in their program of study.
  • Recruits students for programs of study.
  • Participates in academic audits.
  • Participates in accreditation activities.
  • Assists in preparation of budgets for submission to the Director of Nursing/Dean.
  • Assists in preparation of academic schedules for submission to the Director of Nursing/Dean.
  • Serves on College committees and advisory boards and recruits for the advisory boards.
  • Where appropriate, makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing, Dean on staffing courses.
  • Works with Director of Nursing/Dean and fellow faculty including adjuncts/part time faculty to provide education in the clinical setting and maintain academic standards and integrity.
  • Works with new faculty in the department.
  • Actively participates in faculty development activities.
  • In addition to College-sponsored development activities, maintains professional development and stays current in his/her field of study.
  • Works with counselors, advisors, and other College staff in responding to student needs.
  • Assists in the preparation of schedules for submission to the Director of Nursing/Dean.
  • Attends and participates in Nursing and collegewide faculty meetings.
  • Actively participates in college faculty development activities.
  • Maintains memberships in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Discharges those additional duties normally and customarily associated with College faculty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains professional development in the medical field and stays current in their field of study.

Qualifications:

Required

Education

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Foreign degrees – must provide a US equivalency report of your degree credentials with your transcript, if not, your resume will not be accepted. 

Certifications

  • Current, unencumbered RN license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting)

Work Experience

  • Strong clinical expertise with nursing experience involving direct patient care or teaching experience within two years of employment.
  • Must have experience in medical/surgical nursing.

  • Familiarity with mission of comprehensive community college required.
