This individual serves as business development specialist for apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs designed and developed for delivery to industrial clients and open enrollment audiences by a mobile unit and in the classroom. Responsibilities include business development and technical leadership for manufacturing technology programs; curriculum development; and program growth.  Reports directly to the Dean of Workforce, Community Engagement, and Technical Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive business plan outlining pre-apprenticeship training programs, its target market, services offered, pricing strategy, and financial projections for the northern tier and Lehigh valley employers.
  • Conduct thorough market research to understand the demand for mobile manufacturing labs in the valley and northern tier regions.
  • Identify potential customers, such as schools, colleges, community organizations, and businesses, who may benefit from services.
  • Contributes to research on the needs of area business and industry and on the success of the college in meeting those needs; advises other college administrators as appropriate.
  • Works cooperatively with college administrators and plans, schedules, and delivers training programs.
  • Markets SACA training programs to the workforce community.
  • Develops project plans to deliver quality manufacturing training in a timely manner.
  • Oversees mobile and pre-apprenticeship classroom instruction to scheduled cohorts utilizing online and classroom modalities.
  • Meets regularly with staff team to assess program delivery and identify issues or concerns.
  • Manage assets and instructors necessary to deliver the mobile lab and classroom programs
  • Supports manufacturing related special projects.
  • Represents the college in a positive manner to students, business-oriented and community-based organizations.
  • Works with the Workforce team in support of meeting client need.
  • Performs other special projects/duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Foreign degrees – must provide a US equivalency report of your degree credentials with your transcript, if not, your resume will not be accepted.

 Certifications:

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse history, Act 114 FBI Clearance fingerprinting).

 Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing or logistics industry.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact positively with students, employers, faculty and staff in a professional manner.

  • Ability to lead by example; plan, organize and implement multiple projects and see projects through to successful conclusion.
  • Ability to function well in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork as well as initiative and independence.
  • Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors; teamwork/cooperation; initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

PREFERRED

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in higher education administration, student affairs, human resources or other related field
  • Experience in adult or continuing education.
  • Spanish bi-lingual preferred.
