Position Overview:
Lehigh Carbon Community College is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Phlebotomy Instructor to teach and mentor students in the college’s phlebotomy training program. The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, facilitating hands-on skills practice, and preparing students for entry-level phlebotomy positions and certification exams.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
- Teach both lecture and lab components of the phlebotomy program following LCCC’s curriculum guidelines.
- Provide engaging, student-centered instruction that incorporates hands-on learning experiences.
- Ensure course content meets industry standards and certification requirements.
Skills Demonstration & Supervision:
- Demonstrate proper venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
- Supervise and guide students during lab practice to develop proficiency and confidence.
- Monitor student performance and provide constructive feedback.
Student Assessment & Support:
- Assess student competencies through skills evaluations, quizzes, and exams.
- Track and document student attendance, participation, and progress.
- Provide academic support to students as needed.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and infection control practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate degree or higher in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Completion of a recognized phlebotomy training program required.
Certification:
- Current phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or equivalent).
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, hands-on phlebotomy experience.
- Prior teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong instructional and communication skills.
- Ability to engage and support adult learners.
- Knowledge of current phlebotomy practices, safety standards, and certification requirements.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Schedule: Flexible part-time hours, which may include daytime, evening, or weekend classes.
- Contract Duration: Based on course scheduling needs (typically semester-based).
- Compensation: Competitive hourly or per-course rate, commensurate with experience.
