What is an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care?
The associate degree program in Respiratory Care prepares the student to assume responsible positions as part of the health care team. The graduate will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Examination, administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
This program is offered through a shared agreement with Reading Area Community College (RACC). Admission, completion, and conferral of degree is by RACC. General Education coursework is completed through Lehigh Carbon Community College and LCCC students pay in-county rates for their respective courses. The Respiratory Care Associate Degree program at Reading Area Community College is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC).

Your respiratory care courses will prepare you for success in either a future career or when pursuing a four-year degree. In this program, you’ll take classes like:
- Anatomy and Physiology I and II
- Introduction to Microbiology
- Pharmacology
- Cardiopulmonary Anatomy and Physiology
