Murtaza Jaffer began his journey of higher education at LCCC in 1997, a journey that would ultimately lead to the achievement of his parent’s dream. His family's courageous move from Tanzania to the United States in 1995, driven by the pursuit of a better education, laid the foundation for his future success.

Morgan Center Celebrates 20 Years of Serving Tamaqua Community

The college community celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Morgan Center in Tamaqua on Sept. 26, recognizing the enormous impact the Morgan Center and the Morgan Scholarships have had on the area. The ceremony commemorated the accomplishments of key leaders as well as spotlighted three alumni who shared their successes thanks to the Morgan Center.

From Community College to the White House

“If you start here, you can really go anywhere after,” says 2017 LCCC graduate of LCCC's general studies program Anna Stackhouse. She knew going into college that she wanted to utilize as many services as possible to apply her education outside the classroom.

Driven to Succeed

In 2016, at age 19, he arrived in the United States from the Dominican Republic. He did not speak English. He did not have a job. He did not have a learner’s permit, let alone a driver’s license or a car. But he was 100% going places.
