LCCC Early College Student from Parkland Named Leader of Promise
Schnecksville, Pa., Aug. 21, 2024 – Lehigh Carbon Community College Early College student Healley Saltz has been selected as a 2024 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship to complete her associate degree.
Healley is a psychology major at LCCC and is expected to graduate in May 2025. She hopes to then transfer to a four-year university in Pennsylvania to earn her bachelor’s degree and ultimately attend law school to study to become a civil rights attorney.
At LCCC, she is finance chair of the Student Government Association, vice president of the Phi Theta Kappa chapter and editor of the Paw Print student newspaper. She is a student from the Parkland School District.
The Leaders of Promise Scholarship, sponsored by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, recognizes 200 Phi Theta Kappa members with awards totaling $200,000. Phi Theta Kappa is the academic honor society of community colleges. A panel of independent judges selected this year’s recipients from nearly 1,500 applicants. Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated leadership potential.
“I am incredibly grateful to be a Coca-Cola Scholarship recipient. To me, this not only eases my financial worries over college, but also serves as a significant morale booster as I continue to apply for additional scholarships,” says Healley. As encouragement to future students, she says, “Stay persistent, allow yourself grace to take a break every once in a while, and remember to always keep your goals in sight.”
